Appleby & Wyman, a large award-winning regional insurance agency providing insurance services to the Metro Boston community, is currently looking for a Senior Commercial Account Manager.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing in force and prospective commercial accounts as well as assisting with the marketing and acquisition of new business; assisting Producers with the acquisition of new business accounts including preparation of new business proposals as well as potential client visits; and upon acquisition, responsible for total account management including servicing and retaining designated book of business.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Acquires new business accounts through rate quoting, coordinating risk analysis with underwriting contacts, and preparation of account proposals. Accompanies Producer on sales pitch activity, particularly for large exposure accounts. Supports the Producer throughout the acquisition process to ensure successful conclusion. Manages or assigns account, once the account is secured.
- Services and maintains existing accounts including responding to customer requests and inquiries; processing policy changes; policy audits; certificate processing; binder preparation; billing questions; and coverage inquiries, etc.
- Reviews claims activity and overall losses through claims intake processing, coordinating activity with the claims adjuster, and overseeing the overall resolution of claims handling.
- Maintains designated retention levels for existing book of business through reviewing renewal accounts, making recommendations to the producer on renewal handling, and minimizing mid-cycle lost business.
- Trains and acts as a resource to new account managers.
- May act as Team Leader to ensure communication and implementation of procedural changes within the office as well as to ensure effective communication and roll-out of new initiatives with appropriate team members.
- Oversees work distribution for Commercial Account Managers to ensure equitable expectations and service levels.
- Assists with cancellation and reinstatement processing; suspense account activity; and account correspondence.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Required Abilities:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent preferred.
- In depth knowledge of commercial insurance products, coverage and services as typically obtained through 5 years of direct insurance experience. Broker’s license required.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to creatively and proactively problem-solve.
- Account management skills typically including customer service, verbal and written communication skills, ability to work with detailed information, and follow through.
- Ability to understand and analyze insurance coverage’s and policy forms.
- Ability to build strong client and company relationships.
- Must be effective at setting priorities and staying organized in a multi-tasking environment.
- Proficiency of agency and industry software programs required.

Insurance Producers

In this position, you will be responsible for generating new business as well as helping manage current clients. Individuals must be able to demonstrate clear understanding of insurance coverages and programs to fulfill the needs of clients. As well as the ability to manage schedules, set appointments with prospective clients, and present insurance solutions to fulfill the needs of prospects and clients.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Acquires new business accounts, coordinating risk analysis with underwriting contacts, and prepares account proposals.
- Coordinates the ongoing service for existing clients and supervises the servicing and retention of established clients.
- Designs and maintains insurances programs for existing clients.
- Develops and achieves maximum sales volume by identifying, developing and qualifying new prospects.
- Gathers underwriting data for new and renewal accounts and prepares new sales ideas to attract clients.
- Prepares and presents proposals to prospects and clients in order to generate new business, coordinates the acquisition process, and secures accounts.
- Handles renewals and works to minimize mid-cycle lost business.
- Trains and acts as a resource to newly hired Producers.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Required Abilities:
- College degree or equivalent required.
- Must be licensed.
- Must have sales experience, preferable in the insurance industry.
- Ability to travel to clients and prospects on a regular basis.
- In depth knowledge of insurance products, coverage and services obtained through 2 years of insurance experience.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to creatively and proactively problem-solve.
- Account management skills including customer service, verbal and written communication skills, ability to work with detailed information, and following through.
- Excellent public speaking skills.
- Ability to understand and analyze insurance coverage’s and policy forms.
- Ability to build strong client and company relationships.
- Must be effective at setting priorities and staying organized in a multi-tasking environment.
- Proficiency of agency and industry software programs.
